Safety of methane production from coal beds

The coal beds contain relatively high amounts of methane. The presence of such explosive gas possess a serious threat and is the cause of plenty accidents in the coal industry. Modern gas industry some time ago developed the method of extracting methane from coal seams. This method on the one hand allows to produce a sufficiently large amount of methane; on the other hand it increases the level of industrial safety in the coal industry. This paper discusses the extraction of methane from coal beds. The basic problems of industrial safety in this technology were analyzed. Thus, the production of coal bed methane is a fairly complex process, which is adjacent to a large number of hazardous factors that increase the likelihood of accidents. Application of modern technologies of safe gas extraction considers ways will significantly reduce the number of accidents, which will inevitably affect the level of industrial safety.
