The survey studied the arrangement of air medical services for providing thermal injury first aid in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) in 2012-2014.
In the given period, the Republic’s Disaster Medicine Centre provided emergency medicine services to 267 patients with thermal injuries, with 76.0% being evacuated to the specialized burn centre in the city of Yakutsk, including 34.1% of children aged 1-4. In 89.4% of the cases, the patients were transported by air. Out of the evacuated patients, 68 persons (25.5%) had burns at 10-19% of the total body surface area; 48 (18.0%) – at 20-29%; 38 (14.2%) – under 10%; and 25 (9.5%) – over 50.0%.
