Prevalence of periodontal diseases in 14-year-old teenagers in Makhachkala, Republic of Dagestan

The article presents the results of a study devoted to the study of the prevalence and intensity of signs of periodontal tissue damage and the level of oral hygiene in children aged 4-15 living in the Makhachkala city. A pronounced increase in the incidence of gum bleeding with an increase in the child's age is established. The average level of oral hygiene in all age groups of schoolchildren is assessed as "satisfactory", however, in a quarter of preschoolers and schoolchildren, oral hygiene is "bad". Unhygienic content of the oral cavity, lack of motivation for hygienic procedures is a big problem for children's dentistry. Partial solution to this problem is possible with the participation of assistants - dental hygienists.
