Role of bank payment agents in the development of a national payment system

At present, the trend towards a decrease in the number of payment and bank payment agents, as well as the total volume of operations carried out with their help within the framework of the national payment system, is becoming apparent. According to the author of this article, the introduction of deliberate changes to the current legislation may change this trend. These changes should be aimed at expanding the powers of agents, providing them with new opportunities for fulfilling intermediary functions, as well as at streamlining control over the activities of these entities by the Bank of Russia.
