The purpose of the study and the objectives of its achievement. The study is based on the analysis of the composition of economic entities of the production and logistics complex of Russia, the state of the largest companies in this complex, the comparison of their economic results with the results of the world leader in logistics company DHL. On this basis, the difficulties of the development strategy of economic entities of the production and logistics complex are determined. The author suggested that the main condition for minimizing the problems of strategizing the activities of economic entities of the production and logistics complex of Russia is the institutionalization of their resource potential, balanced interaction with the management of economic sectors ordering logistics services. Undoubtedly, an important factor affecting the competitiveness of economic entities of the production and logistics complex of Russia is the optimization of transport routes channels, which allows regulating transaction costs. Based on the analysis of the typical composition of the functional elements of the management system, it is concluded that it is necessary to choose the right method, in accordance with the specifics of the activity.
