The cocoa sector plays a vital role in the economic and social life of the West African country of Côte d’Ivoire, which has been the world leader in the production and export of cocoa beans for half a century. So far, the country has achieved the highest gross harvests, as it currently has the largest cultivation area in the world and a high crop yield. However, in recent years, there has been virtually no increase in production areas and volumes of cocoa bean cultivation. The article identifies the causes of stagnation and discusses possible ways to stimulate the cocoa industry.
