Postoperative hypothyroidism with manifestations of the aging process can be associated with many symptoms that may be present in patients, such as cognitive disorders, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal and hematological changes, and ultimately, which is a severe and life-threatening condition in the elderly. Adequate levels of thyroid hormones are necessary to achieve optimal results from any type of surgical intervention.
