The article presents the basic principles of using the methods of radiation imaging (RI) of acute appendicitis (AA), such as ultrasound, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Standardization of diagnostic tactics within the strategy of minimally invasive treatment of AA is a modern organizational strategy for emergency surgery. Comprehensive and consistent use of the entire modern arsenal of RI methods in an urgent surgical clinic helps to reduce the frequency of diagnostic errors of two kinds: unjustified appendectomy, on the one hand, and minimizes the risk of delayed treatment of complicated forms of AA, on the other.
