The aim of the study was to determine the informativeness of the assessment of the level of placental growth factor at gestational age 11-14 weeks as a predictor of preeclampsia.
Material and methods of research: We conducted a retrospective case-control study: we included 34 patients with realized preeclampsia in group I, 66 patients without preeclampsia were selected in group II. We examined placental growth factor in each group at 11-14 weeks of gestation.
Research results and conclusions Patients with early preeclampsia had significantly lower levels of placental growth factor. Isolated determination of placental growth factor may improve perinatal outcomes by enhancing the ability to prevent preeclampsia.
Keywords:early preeclampsia, placental growth factor, predictor of preeclampsia.
