A review of guiding devices or devices for determining the opening of the mandible as a target point for conducting conductive anesthesia has been carried out. The purpose of the study was to describe and substantiate the technique of blockade of the inferior alveolar nerve using various guiding devices from an anatomical and clinical point of view according to domestic and foreign literature, which will simplify the procedure and ensure greater success of anesthesia and faster training of its technique. A systematic search was carried out, including a computer search for certain keywords, a search for a list of references and a manual search. Relevant articles on navigational anesthesia of IANB (Alveolar Nerve Block) were evaluated and selected in 3 stages for final review based on 5 predefined criteria followed by a critical evaluation stage. As a result of the search, various types of IANB anesthesia guides and the results of the performed anesthesia were recorded and analyzed. The advantages and disadvantages of these methods of anesthesia, the percentage of success, and patient comfort are analyzed. Prospects for further research in this area are determined.
Keywords:anesthesia, inferior alveolar nerve block, anesthesia guide, pterygo-mandibular space, success
