Russia in The History of The World Civilizations and Russian National Mission

The article provides a positive assessment of the cultural and historical role of Russia in the world historical process. Among the most significant events that determined Russia's involvement in the Hellenistic-Byzantine-European civilization, there are: a) the establishment of Russian statehood in 862AD, b) the adoption of Christianity by Kievan Rus in 988AD, c) the rise of Moscow Russia as the successor of Byzantium in the end of the 15th century, d) Russia enters the international political arena in the beginning of the 18th century, e) the fall of the Russian Empire in 1917 and f) the beginning of the revival of historical Russia that took place the end of the 20th century. Through its more than 11 centuries of history, Russia was the second (after Byzantium) to reveal the majestic and original type of Orthodox Christian civilization, impressive enthusiasm for the economic development of geographical spaces, the grandeur of the scale of state building, the splendor of classical fiction, the depth of religious and philosophical insights, the charming appeal of high and inspired culture.
