The article presents the results of the study of volitional characteristics of the subject of envy, taking into account gender differences. It is established that attentiveness of men and persistence of women exclude manifestations of envy in various social and psychological relations. In men, purposefulness contributes to the manifestation of envy-hostility, responsibility and attentiveness exclude envy-despondency. Strong-willed characteristics of a woman: perseverance, the ability to repeat attempts to achieve the planned-exclude feelings of envy-despondency: resentment and despair from the success, achievements, superiority of another. Interrelations of volitional characteristics with envy of separate subject areas at men and women are studied. The energy of a man is jealous of the professional success and communication skills of another. But the persistence of men excludes envy of material wealth. In women, perseverance eliminates envy of the other's communication skills, determination and endurance-to material well-being, independence prevents envy of family well-being. The author notes that the study of envy in conjunction with the volitional characteristics of the subject affects the substantial aspect of the personality - needs, values, attitudes, ideals. Will as a personal level of arbitrary regulation in general, and volitional character traits: perseverance and attentiveness, in particular, exclude the manifestation of envy in the external style of behavior of men and women.
