The article analyzes the problem of the foundations of family and marriage relations in the Western European context, its attitudes, principles with subsequent changes and transformation. Referring to the views of thinkers of different eras in relation to this problem, as well as taking into account the ideological and ideological attitudes of social reality, the causes of these changes are revealed. Social attitudes adopted in society dictate their rules in society, have a direct impact on the Foundation of the family and marriage. The distribution of roles and responsibilities within the family is determined by generally accepted norms of social reality, which under the influence of ideological principles change and form a different interaction of men and women both within the family and outside the family. The author draws attention to the modern guidelines in the social space of Western European society, based on the ideas of freedom and equality, they in turn, have an impact on the conception of man, play an important role in shaping grounds of family and marriage.
