The article analyzes the psychological aspects of the situation as an important part of a holistic system of human behavior. Situational signals as external environmental stimuli are filtered, evaluated and associated with meaning through explicit and implicit processing of information that depends on personal aspects. The article sets out the principles for studying situational factors, describes various approaches to creating typologies of psychological characteristics of situations, and presents their most popular taxonomies. The most popular tests for assessing real and experimental situations are described.
