THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF RUSSIANS AS A KEY CULTURAL MEANING IN T. GAUTIER'S BOOK "TRAVELS IN RUSSIA"

The article undertakes a culturological analysis of the book "Travels in Russia" by the famous French poet, publicist and public figure of the XIX century Theophile Gautier. The works of the XIX century remain relevant at the present time, because they contain information underlying modern cultural knowledge. T. Gautier's travel notes have become one of the works that influence the formation of stereotypes and stable ideas of Europeans about the image of the Russian person. One of the most important cultural meanings represented in the work is the idea of the righteousness of the Russian people. The cultural meaning of righteousness consists of such characteristics as purity and spirituality, religiosity, honesty, humility.
