The article discusses the ethical aspects of modern technogenic, pan-technical civilization, one of the features of which has become the familiar nature of emergencies. In this regard, there is an expansion of the range of rescue operations and the complication of the concepts of «rescue», «rescuer». The actions of rescuers combine professional and human duty. The authors substantiate the difference between the two concepts – « rescue» and «salvation», trying to overcome the gap between essence and existence. Modern soteriology is based on the position that the anthropological (ethico-philosophical) meaning of salvation cannot be finally approved without its theological (actually soteriological) foundation. Despite the «temporary» nature of rescue, its necessity cannot be questioned due to the supreme value of life and the absolute moral justification of such an action.
