This article is devoted to the analysis of the role of the ideas of the founder of Taoism Lao Tzu in the modern cultural modernization of China. Attention is drawn to three postulates of the concept of Lao Tzu: "education of the human spirit", "reforms and innovations", "the spirit of service to the people". It is shown that the use of Lao Tzu's ideas has an impact on the life of Chinese society, which is in the process of modernization. The reflection of the traditional postulates of Taoism in modern reality is substantiated. The ideological basis of cultural modernization is the synthesis of traditional and modern values, the mechanism of interaction, which is determined by the socio-economic reality itself.
