The article discusses the relationship between the concepts of "professional potential" and "psychological type of personality" in the context of the study of individual characteristics and creative abilities of students of musical specialties. Based on many years of experience with this category of students, a new look at the assessment of the positive and negative aspects of specific psychotypes in the context of the musical field of activity is proposed.
