The article presents brief overview of the technology for creating paintings by artist Nicolas Roerich. The technological and ideological reasons for the author's choice of tempera painting are considered. Specific examples of the conservation of several pictures by the artist are described, with a description of the methodology and formulation of conservation compositions. The implementation of two-stage lining of ruined canvas onto silk gas and then onto canvas with the composition BEVA 371 FILM is justified.The consequences of using protective varnish coatings during restoration work are noted.
