The article is devoted to a unique phenomenon in the art of the twentieth century - the music theater by Igor Stravinsky. The Firebird ballet is one of the most interesting in the composer's work. The most famous choreographers of the twentieth century undertook to stage it: Mikhail Fokin, Fyodor Lopukhov, George Balanchine, Boris Eifman, and each found his own dance and lexical image in the interpretation of Stravinsky's work. The Firebird can be considered as a vivid example of the choreographers' individual view of the representation of the "Russian" theme in choreographic art. An important factor was the socio-political situation, which corresponded to the date of a particular production. The phenomenon of all the productions of The Firebird was due to the fact that they were all completely new readings of Igor Stravinsky's musical score and did not refer in any way to the original source - the famous ballet by Mikhail Fokin.
