The article discusses the features of the transformation of the gerontological educational space in the context of the coronavirus pandemic. The results of a comparative study of attitudes towards learning by older students and young students in emergency conditions of life are presented. It is shown that under the conditions of COVID-19, all the shortcomings of the regional features of gerontology associated with the transition to distance learning have become clearly visible. This led to a decrease in motivation for learning, a decrease in the level of general life satisfaction and the number of elderly students in education, a narrowing of educational preferences, and, as a result, to a partial inhibition of gerontal formation. The analysis of the main problems of gerontology was carried out and recommendations were given for teaching the elderly in the face of modern challenges.
Keywords:еlderly person, geriatric education, learning problems, digital illiteracy, self-isolation, level of general life satisfaction, modern challenges.
