The article is devoted to the consideration of nonconformism as a factor determining the behavior of young people in various situations. Taking into account the various approaches to understanding nonconformism in social and psychological literature (from direct action contrary to the norms and rules of society to internal readiness to defend one's position), the purpose of the study was to study the influence of nonconformism on the situational behavior of young people. This article reveals the results of an empirical study of the influence of nonconformism on stress, adaptability, conflict, involvement, readiness to defend one's position and readiness to act in everyday and extraordinary/emergency situations. The study consisted of three stages with the involvement of 462 respondents - representatives of generations Y, Z, Alpha. To identify the level of nonconformism, a critical thinking questionnaire was used, and 20 situations were developed in 5 areas of life: home/family, work/study, transfer, health, and finance/economics. When analyzing the correlations between nonconformism and stress, adaptability, conflict, involvement, readiness to defend one's position, and readiness to act, connections were identified both in everyday situations and in extraordinary and urgent ones. Analysis of the research results shows differences in the influence of nonconformism on the behavior of young people in men and women, as well as in representatives of generations Y, Z, Alpha. This study complements the information on intergenerational differences, as well as on the specifics of the behavior of representatives of generation Z, their perception of everyday and extraordinary and urgent situations, and also shows the importance of the level of conformity and nonconformity in young people in determining behavior in various situations.
