con-painting traditions of Ancient Russ as monuments of a cultural heritage of modern Russia and a state policy in the sphere of protection of the orthodox shrines

The last 20 years everywhere in our country occurs a process of revival of orthodox temples and monasteries, and at the same time revival of ancient icon-painting traditions. The main role in this process plays the state policy and those measures and laws which are accepted for the purpose of protection of orthodox monuments, their restoration and further operation. In 2004 in the State register of monuments of history and culture are more than 80 thousand objects of a cultural heritage the majority of which need complete and/or partial reconstruction first of all buildings, and then – wall painting and icons.
