Cheremees' (Mari) wars in the domestic and foreign historiography

The various points of view of the Russian, Soviet and foreign historians about the liberation movement of Mari people against Moscow's conquest by Ivan IV, whose military expansion was carried out in the time of the creation of colonial empires, are considered in article.
