How to increase motivation to learn English?

The author reveals the theme of the lack of student's motivation to achieve high results in the English language. It is suggested that only a personal experience or close experience, a spectacular event can increase the interest in learning. As a powerful tool for increasing motivation the research project «Learning the world through English» was conducted, within which students visited the Scandinavian countries, where English is the second most important language.
