Arkhangel diocesan conservatory of antiques

Koltsova Tatiana   (The State Museum Association «The Art Culture of the Russian North», Archangel)

In 1886 in Arkhangelsk there was established a Commission for collecting written and material monuments, as well as the Arkhangelsk Eparchial Archives under its authority. Its collections comprised about 700 church utensils, over 600 handwritten books and 25000 documents of the same kind. Geography of the collections covered a vast territory of the Arkhangelsk Eparchy. The majority of church antiquities came down from Kholmogory, Shenkursk and Onega uyezds. The heritage of the Pomor churches is presented in great variety.
