Motivation and evaluation of foreign language receptive competence

Shirokikh Anna Yurievna  (PhD in linguistics, associate professor, associate professor of the Department “Foreign Languages-4” of Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation )

The article looks upon informational competency as an ability to work with sources of information and educational project activities, which should involve conceptual understanding of a professional sphere of knowledge. The author suggests that the theory of conceptual categorization of speech units offers a scheme for post-graduate students’ English projects. Semantic frames of the concept “Insurance” are analyzed in their speech contexts. Translation of terms represents a means of semantization and that is especially important for project activities of foreign language learners.
