The article is devoted to insufficiently studied in Russian and foreign historiography the exploitation of the resources of the occupied territories of the USSR by Nazi Germany. The author offers analysis of this issue on the basis of new archival materials. The author discovered and systematized new facts on the economic results of the occupation of the Western regions of the USSR. The author also briefly discussed the failures of the Nazi regime in achieving its policy "development of the Eastern territories". The article may be interesting both to professional historians and students, as well as anyone interested in military and economic history.
