Ivan Pavlovich Popov (1915-1996): man, teacher, scientist

The article examines the life and scientific-pedagogical activity of doctor of historical Sciences, Professor Ivan Pavlovich Popov (1915-1996). During the 46 years he worked at the Department of history at Ryazan state pedagogical Institute (since 1993 – the Ryazan state pedagogical University) and played a major role in the training of the teaching staff. I. P. Popov made a significant contribution to the study of Russian liberalism of the mid-nineteenth century, becoming one of the pioneers of this scientific problem in Russian historiography of XX century. Not lost the value of his work on methods of teaching history, historiography of national history, the history culture, local history and regional history of Central Russia.
