The modern historiography of Russia and Kazakhstan on status of the court of Biysin XXc

The article reviews the historiography of status issue of the court of biys in Soviet and post-Soviet periods. The researchers state that in the early years, the Soviet government had a tolerant attitude towards the legal institutions of Kazakh society. However, as the system had been further establishing, it liquidated the traditional institutions, including the court of biys. The researchers mention the vitality of the traditional legal institutions even in modern society.
