The words of the category of state as a means of expressing "State"

In our article the focus of attention is on the linguistic category of state and its expression at the grammatical level with the help of the words of the category of state. The definition of the category of state, semantic and morphological classifications of the words of the category of state as well as their usage in sentences have been given in the article. It has been shown that the words of the category of state are a special part of speech expressing the state of people or things at a particular period of time. Numerals, adverbs of time, nouns denoting days of the week, months, and years are used in order to show state duration. The immersion of people/things into a certain state might be partial or complete and expressed with the help of adverbs. According to the material under examination, the words of the category of state are frequently used with the state verb “to be” and less frequently with such verbs as “to fall”, “to remain”, “to lay”, “to feel”, “to stretch out”, “to sprawl”, “to look”, “to drop”, “to sound”, “to seem”, etc.
