The article represents types of author as a case study of contemporary literary reviews in print and online media. Types of critics and reviewers in existing scientific works are allocated for various reasons and reflect individual style, personal preferences, strategies of interaction with literature and reality. The author proposes generic types of reviewers that correspond with global textual intentions and change of priorities in book reviewers' practice from analysis with arguments, evaluation and interpretation to presenting themselves, advertising and entertainment. Literary expert, linguist in specialized issues continues the tradition of analytical criticism in journals writing for intellectual reader, preferring interpretation and evaluation to polemic or self-presenting. Journalist, advertising specialist is a type of author in glossy magazines about leisure time that combine strategies of magazine and newspaper criticism. Creation of a writer's reputation, promoting new names and self-presentation prevail there above reasoned analysis. «Evaluator» of literature, bibliographer is a type of author of lists, ratings that writes short texts — mini-reviews — that are close to annotations, comments, feedback in new online projects, deliberately combines informing and advertising strategies.
