Effective use of functional-stylistic devices of the genre in a report in order to achieve maximum impact on the recipient

The given article focuses on functional and stylistic devices of the report genre as a means of influencing the audience. The main objective of the article lies in to studying the effectiveness of functional stylistic devices under the genre of reportage. The study of various stylistic devices (including phonetic, lexical and syntactic), the frequency of their use and their impact on the target audience is based on the examples of the Russian-speaking and English-language reports. Also the article points out basic stages of development and formation of the report genre, its classification, composition (the location of headings, subheadings and major parts of the report) and lexical features, such as the terms relating to television and radio broadcasting. In conclusion the author points out that the impact that various reports produce on the audience is largely determined by the purpose and intention of the person who writes the text of a report.
