First-year students of technical universities face some difficulties while studying the English language. These difficulties are caused to a great extent by the difference in the grammatical structure of the Russian and English languages, as well as by the fact that some psychic processes of the students such as perception, attention and logical thinking were not formed in the course of previous education. To eliminate these difficulties the authors suggest a simple universal predicate classification and the tables to compare the types of predicate with non-finate forms of verb.
