"The Baltic Knights" as a military caste and the environment, creating an elite: The problem of social identity and outlook (1881-1914.)

In the present paper as the main object of analysis deals with the special social and professional Corporation - "Baltic officers". Defines the content of the cultural identity of its representatives. On the example of the Russian Imperial guard examines the place of “ostseite” in the system of structures forming the elite. The author concludes that the special significance of the phenomenon under consideration to ensure high degree of stability of individual government and military institutions of the Empire as a whole.
