Protopresbyter Michael Pol’skiy is considered one of the main "ideologists" of the Russian Church Abroad, the most intransigent in regard to the Moscow Patriarchate. In the 20th century his works have played an important role in Russian jurisdictional disputes. The article analyses the canonical and ecclesiological views of Archpriest Michael and the feedback from Russian theologians of the "Moscow" and "evlogians" orientations. The author points to the consonance of ideas of FR. Michael separate main themes of Russian theological thought of the 20th century and identifies the distinctive features of his position. The article concludes that the ecclesiological and canonical views of FR. Michael, despite his rejection of the Moscow Patriarchate, largely coincided with its official position. And today the ideas expressed by father Michael played a significant role in the Church debate on many important issues — such as higher management in the Russian Orthodox Church, its relations with state power and with the Constantinople Throne.
