The article is devoted to the quality of education, particularly, to the quality of higher professional education. The basic issue is the analysis of the opinions of the different researchers about the concept content of the quality of education and approaches to its definition. The author takes into consideration pedagogical principles, influencing the quality of the education at the university. The peculiarities of the quality of education, the criteria, determinating the level of the quality and also the system of factors, influencing it and demands of federal state educational standard, are studied. The quality of the results of education, processes and educational system are regarded as a single entity. The author focuses on the importance of the assessment of the academic results of the students and also formative assessment during all the process of the education; concentrates on the organizational components of the educational system of the university and possible ways of solving a problem of getting a higher level of the quality of education.
