The problem of preservation of ethnic identity and the formation of an ethnical image

The article is devoted to problem of preservation of ethnic identity and the concept <APPEARANCE> which is one of the key notions in the African Americans’ Gestalt of the world as their physical characteristics differ from those of other residences of the USA. The analysis of the representation of the concept <APPEARANCE> in the novel is based on linguistic levels of the text.
