The problem of relations between China and the Vatican (Holy See) on the example of events «120 Chinese martyrs»

The article deals with the problem of relations between China and Vatikan (Holy See) by analyzing the «120 Chinese martyrs» events that occurred in 2000. Between the Holy See and China still do not have diplomatic relations because of various disagreements, primarily religious. China is ready to devel-op relations with the Holy See, but subject to compliance with their interests, above all, political. For the Holy See is important to keep The historical role of Catholic missionaries and missionary work in the modern history of China. However, modern China understand the events of the 19th century as the ag-gression of Western countries on its sovereignty, including religious. Therefore, the current development of relations between the Holy See and China can be described as difficult. The methodological basis of the publication are the principles of cultural and historical methods of scientific knowledge.
