Semenova Valentina   (North-Eastern Federal University (Yakutsk))

The article examines artistic characteristics of an ancient Turkic monument "Inscription in honor of Kul Tigin" and a poem "Shaman's Dream" written by the founder of Yakut literature Aleksey Kulakovsky. Through concrete examples, the article reveals genetic and typological relations between the texts, and defines similarities in content, composition techniques and figures of speech. Comparative analysis leads to conclusion that foundations of creative thinking of Yakuts, as well as the figures of speech system of the Yakut language, folklore and literature were established in the folklore of ancient Turks, and subsequently recorded in the Orkhon-Yenisey ancient inscriptions.
