Markers of oral academic discourse and their effect on foreign students` comprehension of academic lectures

In this article we represent the classification of the markers of oral academic discourse. Lecture is the main unit of oral academic discourse. Therefore the material of the current research is a set of audio recordings of real academic lectures on “Linguistics”. The author analyzes the issue of the effect of discourse markers on lecture comprehension and understanding by foreign students and offers teachers of Russian as a foreign language a number of methodological recommendations directed at the optimization of teaching academic listening.
