The article uses the material of the Ph.D. thesis of the author "Pedagogical aspects of studying Georgian piano music", which was the first scientific research in the field of Georgian music for piano solo.

Excellent samples of the plays are analyzed: "Scherzo" by V. Tsagareishvili, "Impromptu" by A. Machavariani, "In Guria" by N. Mamisashvili, "Improvisation" by A. Kvernadze, "Shairi" O. Taktakishvili.
For the first time the author points to a specific source of musical folklore used in the scherzo, determines its national features and characteristics, brings the performers to an objective interpretation of the plays, gives a reference point for determining the character of the scherzo - a soft joke, witty, tart, humorous, dazzling, playful-mischievous.
