The article lights upon an early plans of the military leadership of the Nazi Germany on the war with the Soviet Union. The author argues on base of the German documents that Germany was actively preparing for a war with the Soviet Union even before the development of the plan Barbarossa, but the Soviet Union in the 1930s was not considered by the German high military command as a priority potential enemy. The main area of the fighting against the Red army in the plans of the German command were the Baltic States. The author argues that the political priorities of the Nazi regime in the 1930s was placed in favor of a military confrontation with France and Britain, therefore, the author believes that the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact not so radically contradicted the main geopolitical lines of the Nazi regime.
