Problems of the sanitary condition of the district town of Syzran in the late XIX - early XX centuries

In the article on wide archival material reveals the health problems of a typical Russian provincial town of Syzran in the second half of XIX - early XX centuries. During this period, poor sanitation and hygiene was the main cause of epidemics of infectious diseases that have claimed hundreds of lives. Analyzing the activities of the city administration, local authorities, health professionals, the author comes to the conclusion that, despite a number of significant steps to combat epidemics, the efficiency was still insufficient and did not ensure full health safety of the population of the County town.
