This article describes an attempt to go beyond the boundaries of the traditional foreign language training for master degree officers and to adjust their academic foreign language proficiency to the level and profoundness appropriate for the efficient professional activity of master program graduates. Correctly selected texts for professional purposes make master degree officers become highly motivated to learn because they contain actual information about their future profession. Professionally oriented texts and terminology systematization ensure highly motivated learning. The course materials are mainly authentic that keep master degree officers involved with the course and help to integrate foreign language with professional subjects. Professionally oriented foreign language training is an important step in the development of the professional competence. It is concluded that the benefits of interdisciplinary approach must be taken into account for teaching English for special purposes in higher military school.
