Metaphor as a linguistic method of media-events’ interpretation in the media of Russia and Germany

The essence of metaphor is considered as a way of interpreting events covered in the media. It is proved that the theoretical basis of the base being created is the cognitive theory of metaphor, which treats the metaphor as a way of understanding the essence of some type in terms of concepts related to essences of another, simpler, basic type. The analysis of cognitive metaphors in the interpretation of media events in the media of Russia and Germany allows us to approach the solution of questions about the complex interaction of political thinking, language and culture both in the theoretical and in the practical dimension of linguocultural research.
