On the problem of the character of the "state of the Dahijas" in the Pashaluk of Belgrade at the turn of 18th-19th centuries

The article is dedicated to the key event of the Serbs' history of the 18th-19th centuries – s.c. “the state of Dahijas”, the rule of Janissary officers established in the Pashaluk of Belgrade in 1802-1804. Author describes the most interesting moments of the scholarly dispute in Russia and Serbia. The social and political facets of “the state of Dahijas” as well as the key events of its history are characterized in the article. Author made a conclusion about the complex ethnic and confessional picture of this state, two main tendencies and the evolution the Serbian self-government institutions made into this state.
