Animacy and gender assignment in English texts as a translation issue

The article aims to reveal trends in the contextual assignment of animacy and gender to inanimate nouns in English. It describes semantic groups of nouns prone to personification and analyzes means of personification. It compares original texts and their translations into Russian in order to discover similarities and differences between the two linguistic worldviews and analyze means of rendering personification.
