The threat of war and provincial society in 1907-1914 (Based on materials of the Kaluga province)

The article attempts to analyze the dynamics of Kaluga provincial newspaper reports warning about the threat of World War I, to research the attitude of the province to the threat of a possible war and its the beginning in summer of 1914. The increase and decrease in international tension were reflected in the dynamics of change in the public interest to the relevant reports in the press. This, in turn, was reflected in the number of reports in local press devoted to the foreign policy crises that could lead to war. The dynamics of press reports warning about the threat of war increased. Taking into consideration that press was focused on the taste of readers, we can assume that those reports reflected the attitude of the educated part of the provincial society of the time.
