Bugulma region in the XVII-XVIII centuries: the preconditions for the development of the territory and the peculiarities of formation of the county

The article considers the main prerequisites for the development of the Bugulma region by the Russian state in the 17th-18th centuries. Archival sources, characterizing the peculiarities of the Bugulma Uyezd formation, have been identified and analyzed. For the first time a source is introduced into scientific circulation, according to which it became known about the existence of Bugulma from the 16th century. Attention is paid to the ethnosocial aspects of the settlement of the Bugulma region.
